What Really Happens When the Gurus Get Together…

Ever wonder what actually goes on when the leading internet marketers catch up, plan the evil schemes and get upto shenanigans ? Well a few years ago, everyone got together to try and beat the ‘Google Slap’ – This is an very exact, accurate and unequivocal rendering of the conversations that where occurring during that meeting. Click To EnlargeActually, I just came across this cartoon on my backup drive – I had it created a few years ago for a launch that never eventuated… Anyway, I thought I would dust it off and throw it up here. For those that

Using HARO To Generate Blog Content

HARO (Help a Reporter Out) is a great tool for getting yourself out there and in touch with journos needing expert opinions and quotes… But I’ve been testing it as a source for unique, high quality blog content – Check out the video for more info..

Assessing Web2.0 Tools Using The Marketing Symphony [SlideShow]

What would you say if you had just 5 minutes to give a presentation about the Web? The slides below were from a recent presentation I did at Ignite Web – You may have heard of the Ignite format. It’s a presentation night in the unconference style of Web Jam and Pecha Kucha. Pioneered in Seattle in 2006, it has quickly become a worldwide phenomenon. The unique feature of Ignite is that each presentation contains 20 slides, each of which changes automatically after 15 seconds, giving a guaranteed 5 minute presentation. The presentation covers how to assess new Web 2.0

Google Now Indexing The Apple Itunes App Store

I just saw this tweet from Ed (via Jason Van Preen). And yes it’s true… It appears that Google is now indexing the Apple Itunes App Store. Now This Is BIG News…. See, one of the ‘keys’ that a lot iPhone Application developers have missed when trying to sell/market/distribute their applications is that have relied on the App Store itself to generate the sales… They are coders, not marketers – and this is where you and I have the upper hand. Making the type of money you can ($37,000USD in one day) with an iPhone App is not another Kevin

How To Change The World With A Little Action….

One of the most powerful aspects of having a blog is that anyone, anywhere can have a voice to express opinions and make a difference… this post is my way of helping World Vision change the world, my entry in TheLearnAboutPoverty.org Blog Action Day contest and a much more articulate, in-depth version of my comment on the related ProBlogger.net blog (complete with less spelling mistakes)

It’s going to be a loooong post, so grab a cup of green tea, put on those slippers and settle in.

Top 50 Australian Marketing Blogs

Julian Cole over at Adspace Pioneers has published his second edition of the Top 50 Australian Marketing Blogs, which had also been included in the newly redesigned BandT Magazine(see pages 35-38).

And PreneurMarketing.com made the list on Julians’ site at 24, but 22 in the mag (Not sure how that works, but I’ll take it.)

The methodology for the Top 50 Marketing Blogs is rated in terms of how many people read the blog (Alexa Ranking 20%), how well it rates on Google (Google Page Rank 20%), how many people are linking to their content (Technorati 40%), and a subjective score of how relevant the content is to Australian marketing, which is rated by Julian Cole (Pioneer Rating 20%).

A BIG THANKS to Julian for the hard work and well done to all the bloggers who have been included in the Top 50 Marketing Blogs.

Internet Marketing = Cult?

In the foreword to a new book, Mark Joyner points out that the internet marketing crowd may, on the surface, share some common features with a cult: A unique language understood only by those in the cult, guru figures of whom many blindly follow, and bizarre rites and rituals. – Unique language: squeeze pages, optin rate, conversion rate, PPC, CPM, CPA – Guru figures: do I even need to go there? – Bizarre rites and rituals: launching new websites at the drop of a hat, constantly searching for better tools (which spring up every day), working at all hours of the

Internet Killed The Video Star

OK, so that statement couldn’t be further from the truth – In fact, it’s the complete opposite… The internet is making video stars. No matter what level of marketing you are doing on the internet, you really want to make sure that video is a major part of your mix. Take the current ‘launch’ that John Reese is doing for his Traffic Secrets 2.0 course – It’s entirely in video. …And in classic Reese fashion, he goes and ups the ante by making this one of the coolest free videos ever released. In fact he’s just release the third video
